A Nigerian man identified as Victor David Solomon on Facebook, shared a strange, mysterious Image he captured in the sky. The Image which looks like an angry wolf with fire in its eyes has left lots of people wondering what it is.

Victor wrote ” If you are inside… Come outside and look at the sky😲😲😲happening right now 😦😦😦 Seems the world will end tonight truely”.

COVID-19: Katsina Government, Lift Ban On Friday Juma’at Prayers, Church services

The Katsina state government has lifted the ban on congregational Friday Juma’at Prayers with immediate effect in the state.

“The Government also lifted the ban of Sunday church service observed by Christians in the state”.

Alh. Mustapha Inuwa, the Secretary to the Government of the state SGS, disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Katsina.

“The suspension of Friday Juma’at Prayers has been lifted with immediate effect, but to be conducted under some stipulated health/security guidelines”.

“This resolution followed a meeting held between the state government, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and the security agencies”. The statement said

The statement added that the Juma’at Imams should avoid prolonged sermons so as to discharge their followers within the shortest possible time.

The statement strongly advised people to maintain social distancing and adhere strictly to all rules and regulations as provided by the health experts in fighting the contagious disease.

The Government said that it will provide all the necessary equipment of washing hands and sanitizers as at different mosques and churches in the state so as to ensure the safety of both Muslims and Christians in the state.

Coronavirus: Chinese doctors to arrive Nigeria today

Chinese medical team set to arrive Nigeria today.

A 15-member medical team from China will arrive in Nigeria today.

The Chinese medical team will arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, via a chattered Air Peace aircraft.

They are coming to Nigeria despite opposition by the Nigerian Medical Association.

However, the visiting medical team includes experts in infectious diseases, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology.

They are expected to arrive with their drugs, and equipment to carry out COVID-19 tests on the staff of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation in the country.

The Executive Director, CCECC, Mr Jacques Liao, said in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, that the medical team would be coming with 16-ton test kits, ventilators, disinfection machine, disposable medical masks, drugs, infrared thermometer and other items ordered by the Federal Government.

Liao stated that “the primary purpose of the team is to provide CECC employees with critical and necessary healthcare.”

He added, “All members of the working team have tested negative for COVID-19 and shall commence their stay in Nigeria by spending 14 days in quarantine.

“The primary purpose of the team is to provide CCECC employees with critical and necessary health care assistance. They are also coming with adequate personal protective equipment and medical items for the employees.”

The director explained that under the directive of the Embassy of China in Nigeria and in response to the Federal Government’s request, the team may also share with their Nigerian counterparts effective methods on COVID-19 containment.

Liao explained that in keeping with CCECC’s corporate value, ‘stride with Nigeria,’ the firm would be participating in the construction of two COVID-19 response facilities in the Federal Capital Territory for free.

Shock As Man Slumps and Dies While Buying Foodstuffs In Warri Delta State

A yet-to-be identified man reportedly slumped and died at the popular Igbudu Market in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday.

It was learnt that the man had gone to the market to buy foodstuffs when he slumped and died.

The incident occurred around 9am.

A source at the scene told The Punch that, “The man was at the market to purchase foodstuffs and after buying tomatoes and pepper, he wanted to buy fresh fish. Somebody directed him to where fresh fish was being sold.

“On his way to where he would get the fresh fish, he slumped and died.

“The man might have died as a result of hunger. He was moving like someone, who had not eaten for days.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident.

“It is true, but we don’t know what happened; we are not doctors. The man just slumped and died,” the PPRO stated.

Nigeria records 16 new cases of coronavirus in 5 states, 1 dead in Katsina

The agency announced late on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, that 10 new cases have been recorded in Lagos, while two new cases have been recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and two in Oyo State.

Oyo governor, Seyi Makinde, had earlier announced that the two cases are one 28-year-old woman who returned to the country from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March, and a 42-year-old man who is a contact of an earlier confirmed case.

Delta and Katsina recorded their first cases on Tuesday with one each. The Katsina case had earlier been announced by the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

The case was identified as Dr Aminu Yakubu, a Daura-based doctor who died three days after returning to the state from Lagos.

A laboratory test confirmed that he was infected, and that he also had underlying illnesses such as hepatitis and hypertension.

The private medical practitioner is the sixth person in Nigeria who has died after testing positive for coronavirus.

The new cases have raised Nigeria's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 254 in Lagos (130), FCT (50), Osun (20), Oyo (11), Edo (11), Bauchi (6), Akwa Ibom (5), Kaduna (5), Ogun (4), Enugu (2), Ekiti (2), Rivers (2), Kwara (2), Benue (1), Ondo (1), Delta (1), and Katsina (1).

Tuesday's statistics also show that a total of 44 people have recovered and been released since Monday's announcement when the figure was 35. Seven of the newly-recovered patients were discharged in the FCT.

FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello, said the capital city's medical team is working hard to ensure the recovery and discharge of the remaining patients.

World Bank releases $82m support to strengthen Nigerian public health response

The World Bank Group has released 82 million dollars for immediate support in strengthening the public health response through the Regional Disease Surveillance System Enhancement Project (REDISSE).

The bank made this known in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday.

The bank explained that in addition, the World Bank had been asked to provide a multi-pronged package of support over the next six months to strengthen the country’s preparedness for the immediate health crisis.

The statement indicated that the World Bank would also provide the Federal Government with budget support for a pro-poor stimulus package and the long term recovery.

“Efforts to protect livelihoods and support local economic activities over the next 18 to 24 months will be critical in mitigating the economic and human impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Together with partners, the bank is discussing with the states and relevant federal agencies how best to protect livelihoods of poor and vulnerable families and support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to enable recovery.

“Through the REDISSE project, about 10.6 million dollars has already been committed to support the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in strengthening states’ emergency operation centre, building, renovating and providing equipment for treatment centres across eight states.

“As well as bringing in essential medical supplies and drugs, testing kits, Personal Protective Equipment for frontline health workers,” the bank said.

HIV drug which successfully treats coronavirus is moving to phase 2 trials

An experimental HIV drug that has been used to successfully treat COVID-19 patients is in its second phase of testing with the Food and Drug Administration and could potentially be approved for use in four weeks, its manufacturer says.

Leronlimab, made by the biotech company CytoDyn, was used to treat a handful of severely ill patients in New York City hospitals; a couple were able to be removed from their ventilators.

"I think the FDA will be willing to work with us," CytoDyn CEO Nader Pourhassan told The Post.

"I am hoping it will be expedited … I don’t see how the FDA couldn’t approve it."

Pourhassan added: "With a study in China indicating the mortality rate among COVID-19 patients requiring mechanical ventilators at more than 85 percent, the world desperately needs a therapy that can help this patient population.

Initial studies suggest leronlimab can reduce the overactive immune response, known as a cytokine storm, that can be triggered by the coronavirus infection. Cytokine storms can result in pneumonia and even death.

"[I] cried for about five minutes. It was very, very emotional," Pourhassan told Seattle’s KIRO 7 News after first learning of the results. "We’re hoping we can save millions of lives."
